Baritone Brian Dore is a member of the ensemble at Theater Dortmund in Dortmund,
Germany.  Since his Theater Dortmund debut in 2007, he has sung over 150 performances of
12 roles including 40 performances of Vater in
Hänsel und Gretel and 25 performances of
Papageno in
Die Zauberflöte.  The upcoming 2010/11 season in Dortmund includes 5 additional
role debuts; Mr. Ford in
Falstaff, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Horatio in Hamlet by Cristian
Jost, Graf Oskar in Offenbach’s
Ritter Blaubart, Jäger in Rusalka.  During the 2010/11 season,
he will also sing Sharpless in
Madama Butterfly and Marco in Gianni Schicchi.  

In October 2010, he will give a recital on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s
William S. Newman Concert Series. In 2009/10, he made role debuts as Dr. Falke in
Die
Fledermaus
and Achillas in Giulio Cesare in Egitto.  In the 2008/09 season, additional role
debuts included Papageno in
Die Zauberflöte, Taddeo in L'Italiana in Algeri, Ottokar in Der
Freischütz
, Oberjustizrat Hasentreffer in Henze's Der Junge Lord, and Die Standuhr in Ravel's
Das Kind und die Zauberdinge.  He also performed Baron Dauphol in La Traviata, Vater in Hänsel
und Gretel
and Masetto in Don Giovanni.  In the 2007/08 season, he sang Vater in Hänsel und
Gretel
, Kruschina in Die Verkaufte Braut and Silvio in I Pagliacci.  

In the United States, he has performed with the Boston Lyric Opera, Opera New England,
Opera Theater of Saint Louis, PORT Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Theater of Connecticut,
New York Grand Opera, Bronx Opera, Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater and Salt
Marsh Opera of Stonington, Connecticut.  His most recent US performances include; Figaro in
the
The Barber of Seville on tour with Opera New England, and Silvano in Un Ballo in Maschera
with Boston Lyric Opera, Schaunard in
La Bohème with Opera Theater of Connecticut, Dancairo
in
Carmen with PORT Opera in Portland, Maine, Secret Police Agent in Menotti’s Consul with
Bronx Opera; William Clark in
Dream of the Pacific and Running Bear in Thunder of Horses with
the Education Department at Opera Theater of Saint Louis; and in concert at the 80th
Anniversary Gala of the
Università per stranieri in Perugia, Italy and the Italian Cultural
Institute in New York. Other roles include Tarquinius in the
Rape of Lucretia, Germont in La
Traviata
, and Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos.  

Brian holds a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York and
Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill.  He has also trained as a Studio Artist at the Sarasota Opera, as an Opera
Theater of Saint Louis Ensemble member and in masterclasses at the Britten-Pears School for
Advanced Musical Study in Aldeburgh, England.

Brian is originally from Westbrook, Connecticut and currently splits his time between
Dortmund, Germany and Foligno, Italy.
